They have their own reasons for wanting you to think that, but it’s just not true.
Here’s their game: If you’ve done even a little bit of research into sales funnels, you’d be right to assume that the jargon is thrown around to intentionally confuse you. They want you to give up and spend your hard-earned money hiring them to do what you can easily do on your own.

Our goal for this presentation is to help two types of people. If you’re a beginner: you’ll get an idea of what goes into a sales funnel. More experienced? you’ll get to see quickly where your funnel has some gaping holes that are costing you conversions…and money. If we’ve done our job correctly EVERYONE will leave today knowing the various pieces of sales funnels and what you need to do in order to have yours complete in less than a month.

Creating something from scratch is always harder than following a template.
How implementing a sales funnel will help you
If you’re anything like us, you have the following:
- A website, probably WordPress
- Email subscribers
- A Facebook page
- A PayPal account, or some other way to accept online payments
- Something you want to sell online
But no central system that shows where everything goes.
Selling without sales funnels
Here’s what we did before we built sales funnels:
- Spent so much time creating awesome products that once they were done, we slapped them on a page, tested to make sure the link to PayPal worked and walked away
- Hoped people would buy
- Barely even mention to our audience that we had something to sell
- Then repeat the process of creating new things to sell
What a sales funnel looks like
A sales funnel exists in three places:
- Your website
- Your email provider
- Some sort of paid ad (Facebook today, tomorrow, who knows?)
Let’s take a look at a typical sales funnel.

The four steps to creating your own sales funnels
Step 0: make sure you have a good reason for someone to give you their email address
- Not just a generic “join the newsletter” opt-in
- Make sure your freebie is directly related to what you’re ultimately selling
- Do not overthink this piece — spend less than three hours creating your opt-in
Step 1: create a map of your whole funnel
- This is where the magic happens
- Somehow, having ONE PLACE where you can see your whole funnel really helps tie everything together
- You’ll be able to fill this in as you go along, then it becomes even more useful because you’ll be able to click on the links that take you right to the page you want
Step 2: Create the pages on your website
- Landing page
- Thank-you page
- Sales page
- Order page
- Upgrade page
- Confirmation page
Talk about how these pages aren’t like regular blog posts, and WordPress alone isn’t equipped to create these.
Step 3: Write emails that warm people up to your sales pitch
This is where a lot of people get stuck, but it shouldn’t be. By this point, people are expecting a sales pitch. They gave you their email address, now they’re ready to hear what you’re offering. But you can’t do that right away.
- Think of it like dating — no marriage proposal on the first date
- In fact, this could be quite similar to online dating
Step 4: Fill the funnel using a Facebook ad
- Sales funnels have to be filled
- Since your product costs money, don’t be afraid to spend money on an ad

If you wanted to create a sales funnel on your own, you’d need:
- A diagram for your whole funnel
- A page builder — WordPress on its own isn’t equipped for sales funnels
- Forms that connect your website with your email service provider
- Ideas for emails that warm people up to the idea of working with you
- Connections to payment processors
Sounds like a lot, doesn’t it?
It is, and it isn’t.
